OptiWell will seek to uphold, as far as practically possible, the ethical rules and guidelines established by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), the British Psychological Association (BPS), the International Test Commission (ITC), the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology South Africa (SIOPSA) and the Psychological Society of South Africa (PSYSSA). In cases where there is conflict between these guidelines, the guidelines of the HPCSA will prevail.

Our professional conduct is also aligned with the requirements of the following legislation:

  • The Health Professions Act (Act 56 of 1974);
  • The School Education Act (Act 6 of 1995);
  • The Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995);
  • Chapter 2 of the Constitution of South Africa (Act 108 of 1996);
  • The Employment Equity Act (Act 55 of 1998);
  • The Promotion of Access to Information Act (Act 2 of 2000); and
  • The Mental Health Act (Act 17 of 2002).
