Psychological Assesment

All psychometric assessment instruments are carefully selected to ensure appropriate use within cross-cultural contexts and are therefore suitable for application within the diverse South African market.

OptiWell is committed to understanding people and making accurate predictions about their current capabilities, potential and likely success in specific work contexts and therefore OptiWell utilises assessment methods that meet international best practice standards and tests which are valid, fair and reliable. The process provides clients with practical insights, indicators of potential, development needs and practical suggestions.Some of our assessment services include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessment for psychomotor ability –This type of assessment predicts the likelihood of human error in positions, such as those of drivers and operators, that require psychomotor ability,
  • Assessment of bursars/learners – The objective of this assessment is to determine the potential and likely success in tertiary sponsored education and training.
  • Assessment of technical aptitude – This assessment aids in the identification of individuals who are likely to be able to grasp technical concepts and might be suitable for engineering positions, technical apprenticeships or technical training.
  • Assessment to diagnose performance issues – The results obtained from this type of assessment help to identify and diagnose potential causes of performance problems at work and to make informed recommendations with regard to referral and remediation.
  • Assessments to determine “person-jobfit” – This type of assessment is done to determine whether the candidate suits the position and is ready for the position.
  • Assessments for development/talent identification/promotions – The primary goal of this type of assessment is to determine a candidate’s potential beyond his immediate job; in other words, the assessment aims to predict how responsive the individual will be to conventional education, training, instruction, coaching and new job exposure.
  • Assessments for succession planning – This type of assessment helps to identify the suitability of employees as potential successors to key positions within the organisation.
  • Career assessment – The main purpose of this type of assessment is to assist the individual to make informed career decisions at critical career crossroads.
  • Assessment centre/Management potential assessment – This type of assessment sets out to establish the management potential of an individual by making use of assessment methods such as in-baskets, individual problem analysis exercises, leaderless group discussions, role-plays and oral presentations.  These assessment methods, in conjunction with the use of other traditional psychometric assessments, have been proved to be very useful and reliable in establishing an individual’s developmental areas and strengths on a specific management level.

Learning programme development

Programme materials that can be custom-designed to suit your organisation’s training needs include:

  • Customisation of the actual learning process and programme material

  • Facilitator’s manual
  • Learning aids
  • Other facilitation tools
Depending on the requirements of the client organisation, the learning programme material can then either become the property of the client organisation, to be used in-house according to the company's needs and discretion, or remain the property of OptiWell, which will facilitate the programme.
